OUR PROGRAMS

What type of housing do we provide?

People lose their housing for many reasons, which is why we need to have different solutions that meet the needs of those we are trying to serve.

While LASA focuses on the needs of families we also provide services to singles.

Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH)

PSH is dedicated to families where the Head of Household has a qualifying disability, as well the family must be considered Chronically Homeless.

This model is dedicated to permanent housing where a family can stay while paying approximately 30% of their adjusted gross income towards rent. Supportive services focus on helping the family maintain their housing. Sometimes there is a possibility that a disability can be overcome in which case the case manager works with the family on education and/or employment goals.

We are frequently asked how long a family can stay in PSH. The answer is they can stay forever as long as they continue to follow their lease agreement. Occasionally we need to say goodbye to someone who increases their income to the point they no longer qualify. That is always a time to celebrate.

Low Income Affordable Housing

LASA also owns nine units of housing including 2 bedroom duplexes, as well as 3 and 4 bedroom single family homes. These units are eligible to low income families experiencing homelessness. The family must be able to receive an income in order to pay the rent, which is typically 30-40% below market rate.

LASA does not maintain a waiting list. Most of our openings are listed through Coordinated Entry

Rapid Rehousing (RRH)

Rapid Rehousing accepts individuals and families referred to us by Coordinated Entry.

This program can assist with move in costs and short-term rental subsidy for qualified households. Using the Housing First model we address homelessness and provide resources to address other needs and barriers clients may have.

This program seeks to meet clients where they are in life; they focus on what the clients want and need. Clients are in charge of their destinies and know their situation better than the referring agencies do. Families also receive referrals to employment services, mental health services, and resources to gain tools for self-sufficiency. Empowering clients to take control of their lives is the key to our community’s Family Permanent Housing Programs.

Barrier Reduction

LASA is currently able to help families and individuals that reside within the Clover Park school District and Franklin Pierce School District with rent and/or utility assistance.

LASA has on going funding for Lakewood Water District. LASA can provide assistance up to three times a year up to $220.00.

The household may be provided with referrals to other services they need. LASA does not provide case management with rental or utility assistance.

Emergency Shelter (ES)

LASA’s emergency shelter is different than many emergency shelters. LASA’s units are turn-key apartments. This means that after we admit a family to the shelter they have their own 2 bedroom apartment for 30 days.

This comes with a case manager who helps the family move to permanent housing. Meanwhile the family pays nothing for the service, and is able to save towards their future home.

Essential Needs Closet (ENS)

LASA offers individuals and families hygiene products, diapers/ wipes, socks, coats and other essential needs from our Essential Needs Closet.

lasa's non-discrimination policy

In compliance both with the Federal Fair Housing Act and the Washington State Law Against Discrimination, openings are assigned to qualified households without discrimination or unfair practices based on race, creed, color, national origin, familial status, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, age, veteran or military status, or disability status.
